Destry, That goes with what I was hearing about steel effectiveness, too. I don't know why my buddies don't use Kent TM. They experience what you saw and espouse theories. Thanks.

I had a Chessie that would growl at you with your first miss and bite your boot if you missed again. Motivated you to either not miss or let some else shoot first. He was one of the best retrievers I ever had and would bust through ice like not other Chessie I have ever had. He out smarted more than one crippled Black duck and that is saying something. Thank God he passed long before I had to shoot steel or I might be named peg leg Jon.

12ga 2-3/4" Improved Modified 1-3/4oz No 2 @ 1500ft/sec Temp=59F Bar=29.54"
Drift 10MPH Cross Wind 30yd 4.1" 40yd 7.4" 50yd 11.7"
The problem is the wind in his face. I don't think he missed. The shot simply did not have enough velocity to kill.

Drift in a cross wind is based not on the velocity itself, but on the loss of velocity or lag time. Consequently the quicker a projectile loses velocity the greater the drift. As steel loses velocity faster than lead, it will drift more than lead.

KY Jon I thought Chessies just bit their owner regularly because that's what they do. Maybe you two just got into a rhythm?
