What we almost DIDN'T have for Christmas dinner this year was the turkey. One of my sons lives next door and was to inject and fry the bird this year. After defrosting it in the frig he placed it in the kitchen sink last night to get it ready for frying today. While outside making sure the deep fryer was ready for action, he and his wife heard a 'ka-thunk' in the kitchen.
Daisey, the German Shorthair he and his wife keep in their house had liberated the turkey from the sink and eaten most of it. With 20 family members coming to dinner here today, things were looking bleak. No store in town was open at 11:00 on Christmas Eve. Luckily, his mother in law had a 12lb. bird in her freezer, and todays's dinner was saved.
I don't think we'd really have missed the turkey today anyhow with all the rest of the feast!...Geo
