All my guns go thru at least a once a year annual maintenance. For those used infrequently I generally inspect and clean quarterly. Those used frequently are usually cleaned after each use and undergo a detailed cleaning(beyond a field strip) annually. I am fortunate to live in the Southwest with low humidity so rust isn't a problem. However wood needs frequent maintenance to avoid drying and warping as well as leather items.
