I might use 5-6 different guns in the field hunting season. Each gets a wipedown after use, and a good cleaning at the end of the season which is upon us. If I hunted in precipitation it gets cleaned.
I've bought guns that had'nt been cleaned in who knows how long and the bores came out OK. Cleaning after a couple months of being fired only a few times has presented no problem. But, like was said, they have to be checked about a month later after cleaning for "sweating" streaks.
