Hi all, recently I inquired about a gun that is for sale by a well known sporting good retailer.
Everything looked good and I asked the question, what is your rock bottom price, the gun was listed at $1769.00. The response was $1699.88.
What caught my attention was the 88c. What's with that?
Anyone else have a good story with their experiences like mine?
Bet!
Greg

Tell him you can go no higher than 1699.87.

Yep! Everytime I fill gas. The price will be something like 3.99 9. Why don't the lousy crooks just say four bucks instead of making it sound like a good deal.

I think they were just being a smart ass and pulled a number out of thin air because you asked for a better deal. Funny he didn't say $1700.00.

I know a gun shop that has prices marked similar to that. Always some loose change on the end. If you can talk them down, there is a different amount at the end but never an even dollar. Go figure.

At one time one if the chains used the cents to indicate the type of sale. Normal price was one amount, closeouts were another. Reduced sale and so on. You could tell by the last two digits when you looked at the sales reports.

Thanks! Greg

My guess is it is a result of a calculated price based on a percentage.

Ya' think?
$1769 - $1699.88 = $69.12
$69.12 / $1769 = .039072922
Who would say, "Well, I could knock off 3.9072922 percent for him, I guess."?

Yeah, I had the same thought until doing the calculation.
