Bob,

You got the maker, it's a long-range in caliber .45 2-7/8" Sharps Straight. A variation that is seldom seen.

Say, Michael, I would love to know what the twist rate is on that rifle. I'd like to see a chamber drawing too, but, twist would be really helpful information.

Brent, My friend now has the gun but the next time I see him I'll get that information. I remember that the rifling looks a lot like that done by Pope.

I think is was back around 2000, it was the second or third day of the Vegas show. Several of us were talking when a young lady walked by with this slung over her shoulder on a sling. She had been dragging it around the show try to find someone who knew what it was.

Michael, ANYTHING about that rifle would be wonderful to know. If done by Pope, so much the better. I didn't realize he build up long range rifle.

And who campaigned that rifle, how did they do?

I could probably ask questions all day about it. We generally think of long range rifles being restricted to Sharps, Remington, Ballard and a few English makers. So this one is all news to me.

I don't know that Pope had anything to do with it, the rifling just reminds me of his style. As far as I know there are, to-date, two of these known.
