I certainly have no desire to be categorized in that manner. I have no problem saying that the inhabitants of this bbs are almost uniformity preening poseurs "collecting" insignificant and abused examples of firearms that few if any would otherwise GAF about, and massively dedicated to the "sow's ear" concept of acquisition enhancement. Whenever I need a laff this is the place I come to. Top of that list are those who post questions and ignore any answer that does not agree w/ whatever erroneous preconception they have already decided to be the case. Sort of the Darwin Awards section of the gun world.

We can't all have as fine and splendid of a collection as you, or you wouldn't be able to think so highly of yourself .
I enjoy shooting and hunting with old guns and not collecting, however many on here enjoy the opposite. If I only wanted to see museum pieces I would go visit one or buy a book on the subject (that would have to be a picture book on the subject since I am not as well learned as you). A lot of this forums foundation rests on restoration which to me is invaluable. All guns become a sows ear in the end. If we all take the arrogant standpoint that only pristine guns are worthy of our attention, the fine old craftsmanship and skills to create such pieces will eventually all fade away. We must be willing to maintain, restore and learn to use the old methods to create. Someone has to be interested in repairing and restoring without the idea of getting rich every time you do a repair or restoration. I have repaired a few which I have far more invested in than they are worth. However, they hold to me is far greater than money due to the enjoyment I get out of using them, and the pride of knowing I brought it back to life.
