A lot of this forums foundation rests on restoration which to me is invaluable. All guns become a sows ear in the end. If we all take the arrogant standpoint that only pristine guns are worthy of our attention, the fine old craftsmanship and skills to create such pieces will eventually all fade away. We must be willing to maintain, restore and learn to use the old methods to create. Someone has to be interested in repairing and restoring without the idea of getting rich every time you do a repair or restoration. I have repaired a few which I have far more invested in than they are worth. However, they hold to me is far greater than money due to the enjoyment I get out of using them, and the pride of knowing I brought it back to life.
