Mine is 12g Italia, 29.5" barrels and you cannot open the action when the hammers are back. The top lever hits the right hammer.

This is my go to hammer gun. I love it and it is deadly on birds and clays. I have not seen nice wood on one ever. All straight grain.

I think the Italia is in the $2000 range but the Brescia should go for less. Not sure what it is worth in 20 gauge.
