Jerry here you go-- Hello Alvin Linden the 8x57 has a diameter (NBD.) of 0.318 and is indeed an excellent cartridge for the deer of medium size, I have a Obendorf (byf) rifle ( he means a WW2 gewehr but with a Bayer Fabrike marking- this rifle is indestructible in spite of the many cartridges it has fired (military ball?) as a side note here, isn't the 8mm closer to the 0.323 NBD--RWTF
