I bowed out at $7500. That was my self imposed limit on a gun that I may end up holding onto for a while.
That said, I still think it sold for well below retail (from the guns I see and know have sold privately).
If it all checks out OK, I think it was a strong buy. If I was more birdy, I would have bought it.

Huvius, it is not intended to be a price, rather a value to be considered in the pricing. The next grade down is the more common configuration. At Holt's, Mar08 Lot 1425, S/N #16986 with scroll back, SST, WR rebarrel, my assesment was BV2-OQ3-CC4=$6242. I hammered at $6000.

I have currently 44 guns that have passed through auction or are for sale currently. I will continue to refine my estimate, but I'm tracking pretty well at this point over the whole range; BV2-OQ2-CC1 to BV2-OQ6-CC9 (45 pigeon holes of value for the possible range of WR DL guns).

What was the final sale price of the one under discussion?

Ted, I think single triggers on Brit guns are more a matter of, "To buy or not to buy, that is the question." Single trigger guns may take a bit longer to sell on average, but I can't see it in price. Looks like something around 1/3 of DL's are single trigger. I have the impression that the WR SST may be a cut above most Brit ST's. Anyone have a comment on that impression?

I wouldn't venture a comment on the reliability of WR SSTs, but I am always concerned that that any SST, regardless of maker and original reliability, can be buggered by subsequent bad gunsmithing or even restocking. That is a difficult issue to evaluate when buying, unless you can have have a good gunsmith disassemble the gun and investigate whether the action or trigger have been messed with. It is not quite as bad as a bad set of barrels, but a major trigger repair or replacement would turn most guns upside down investment-wise, not to mention cause some heartache and headache. I prefer shooting DTs on field guns, most because of functionality, but it does also reduce the issues one has to worry about when buying a used Brit sxs.

I haven't seen bunches of DLs running around, but, every one I've seen in person was a single trigger.

Doverham, Ted, et al. I'm not arguing that ST/SST should be chosen, rather that the WR version seems to be one of the more reliable triggers. If you are in the market for a DL, you have a pretty fair probability of "the one" coming OE with SST. Unless you have reasons as stated above, that is not necessarily a bad thing. Especially, it is not a bad thing if you have trouble with double triggers and really want to shoot a Brit SXS.

I have a nice Holloway & Naughton BLE with the WR SST and WR ejectors. It gets shot a right fair amount on the skeet field and has had "nar' a hic-up" from either sub-system. Watch, now that I have bragged on it the whole gun will fall apart ala the wonderful one-hoss shay.
