Found this for sale on another forum, 28 gauge barrels on a .410 frame. Not trying to insult anyone, I just thought it was an interesting photo, it seems obvious the gun has been fired this way.

What action?
Looks like the hull is fully enclosed?

Looks like a Winchester Model 23 Classic .410-bore frame with a set of 28-gauge barrels on it. My .410-bore and 28-gauge pair both have 15/16 inch firing pin centers.

The poor man's two gauge set???

This has to be one of the most alarming things I've ever seen.

Heck, I should try this with all my SXS guns. NOT!

Seems like as long as the barrels ring and its is on face... (NOT!)

But inquiring minds need to know, what are they asking for it?

Please PLEASE don't think that I am in anyway connected to this gun or seller, I was just amazed this was being done successfully. I saw it on the shotgun world forum for sale section.

I wonder where he came up with that set of 28 Ga barrels. I had one but I cannot remember for sure if the barrels were serial numbered. I think they were. Does not look so good, but I do not see where it would be dangerous as long as all the other fits and lockup is okay, other than the barrel outside diameter not matching the receiver. That section of barrel is unsupported anyway. Price is certainly low, but I don't want it.

BUT, if you have a 20 gauge gun
and get the 28 gauge set to go with it

And then get the 410 shotgun
Wow, what fun that would be.

It would appear to me as if there could be a slight problem with firing pin alignment. Looks as if the primers in those 28ga shells would set a bit high & wide for the pins to strike them centrally.

Nope! The Model 23 Classic .410-bore and 28-gauge frames are the same except for the exterior contours of the breechballs being downsized for the smaller diameter .410-bore barrels.

This would work better on an Ithaca NID here the 28-gauge and the .410-bore frames, breechballs and firing pin spacing are all the same. The Ithaca .410-bore barrels are just really thick at the breech end.
