While thinner wrists seem to fit most folks a bit better, I'm not sure that the size of the grip matters as much as the shape. If you partially close your hand and look at it, what you will see is more of a diamond shape than a perfect circle. I'm guessing here, but I suspect that if you took even a larger grip diameter and shaped it to be more of an diamond shaped oval, you'd find it to be more comfortable to hold.
