Does anyone have the U.S. address of J. Roberts and Son that have the records for W. Jeffery and Son gunmakers? I have a W.Jeffery and Son 12 ga single barrel hammer damascus(six iron ?) ser. no. 2104 that I'd like to date if possible. Thanks for your help.

This is mine. The barrel wouldn't pass proof so I bought it cheap and plan on making a bore rifle. It's at the smiths now.

Going to have it rebarreled with a fully rifled barrel in 12 bore or 16 if the 12 bore barrel won't work.

Mike, your gun looks the same as mine except mine's a toplever. What's that striated look on the lower action body? Mine's the same(almost looks like unetched damascus?).Seems like really thick steel in the breech area. Mine was proofed at 850 BAR 70mm. Other marks are 18.4, "arm with sword" over NP, WI, GP, LP over 01, 12 and C in a diamond, and "CHOKE".Any idea on the age?

Oldmanriver,
The Jeffery records can be accessed by writing Thomas H. Friedkin
PO Box 4178, Houston, TX 77210.
Paul Roberts is no longer associated with them.

Serial Number 2104 dates to 1895

Oldmanriver,
No email that I know of.
I own WJJ No.13226(1904) and No.13269 (1905). Terry could well be correct on the 1895 date. I am more familiar with Rigby and Powell numbers. In both cases, there are some real surprises when it comes to date of sale v. serial number.

I have WJJ No.3455 which is a heavy (11 1/4 #) magnum 10 HG, 33" damascus barrels, which was chambered for the 3 1/4" Perfect brass case and is now nitro proofed for 3 1/2" magnum 10.It dates to 1896.
