Hello WildCattle,

I just called Hawk to get 3 boxes on order also. They said this will work out better for them since this will up the qty for the special run.

They mentioned that they have a fellow in San Antonio,Texas that gets a couple of boxes of these ever couple of years. Any idea who that might be?

Nope, I have no idea who that might be...
The 8 Lebel double rifles are extremely rare.
Actually, those 2 are the only ones I have ever seen or heard of.
Of course, they are lots of bolt actions out there, but they don't need the exact bullet.

Perhaps the folks at Hawk will forward a note to that owner to make contact?

Hello AkMike,

Yes, I already did that. It would be interesting if there wan another 8mm Lebel Double rifle out there. If he has been using these bullets for a few years, perhaps he might have some load suggestions.

Buckstix,
This is your rifle, not mine, you can do whatever you think is best.In general, if a .330"(actual dia may differ)bullet will easily go into a fired/unsized case, it is useable "as is".If you are not comfortable with this, you can size them to whatever diameter you are comfortable with. Also 208 gr.is close enough to make a trial worthwhile.

Hello Der Ami,

I understand what you are saying. Although I have experience with shooting oversize lead bullets, I never shoot jacketed bullets that are over groove dia. in antique guns.

It isn't worth risking damage to a nice gun, just to save a few dollars.

The weather forecast for tomorrow is about 38 degrees, so I just might get a chance to test this little double.

Buckstix,
"It isn't worth risking damage to a nice gun, just to save a few dollars."
I certainly agree with you on that.
I would not go over .327 in my case, and the weight is off as well.
I have actually some PRVI on order, but it certainly won't be my first try.

As for the loading I am converging to the *ball park* of 40 grs of IMR4895.
