If you can pay five grand for a decent gun you can pay for a decent room and worse you will not put up with motel 6 for 200+ a night. I stay where my wife is happy and eat the bill gladly. Easier to keep her happy for a few more bucks than listen to her grip about all the shortcomings of the hotel. I get all the gripping at home for free.
The days of "Lost Wages" as a cheap place to stay and eat are behind us. We should expect a decent place to stay and refuse to stay where a deployment over seas to a third world country would qualify as an upgrade.
