G', Most the Lads who toiled at the benches at Irongate Wharf(Purdeys Factory, 1900-1957)grew up with a'Steam-Radio'One per workshop' Programs selected by Factory Mangager,(Harry Lawrence)Peter Sellers/Harry Seacomb and their cast of Many,kept us all in'Laughs'.Did you ever read Sellers's"Listen With Mother Stories'Auntie Rotter's Bedtime Kiddies Tales....Just the Stuff to Draw-Knife off a Beautiful French Walnut stock that you've spent 2 days;Hand-Inletting the Action, Trigger-plate,Locks,Trigger-Guard, Then on comes "The Goon Show"for 1/2 hr. All work usually stopped,Tea cups filled,(Even the Real Old Basards'would crack a Smile) John Cleese and the Monty Python 'Crew" were Fans all through their University Years.I have 'Jotted Down' a few 'Lines of Humor'..Usually comes into the Head around 2.30am when I've been chequering for several hrs. Mike McIntosh and I have thought about writing about some Humorous Tales from the Workbench's of Gunshops,,,There are Many!!!..Mike Bonner, What agreat area of the'Sceptered Isle" you left behind! All those Wonderful Pubs on banks of the 'Broads'..Gallyons Gunshop. all those Country Gunmakers tucked away in the Villages of Essex, Norfolk,The Gunshop in Kings Lynn...And all those Low Ceilings in the Olde Worlde Pubs...I'm sure Squire G' spent many a happy day on the 'Sandringham Estates' before he ;Set Sail for the Colonies'.Back in '60" i attempted to kill a few 'Coypu' with my Dickson Hammer 12b 'We"(Mate from Purdeys) had a Remington Hump-Back,5 shot, Dammed thing would 'Blow off all 5 rds Full-Auto,We had never seen such a 'Massive Piece of Mechanical Mayhem'He traded it off to a used car Dealer for a 1935Austin 'Ten'4 door.Starter was a Handle through the front of the Radiator.....Ahhh The Romance of the Gun..Jack 'D' told me today the 'Offer on The Tsars Parker has Risen Again...Question,...Has an American President ever Had a Parker Built for Himself??.
