Gerald, if no one pops up with an answer soon I suggest you take it over to Shotgun World in their reloading section. Great resource for this type of question.

I have an Alcan reloading manual I got last year someplace. I load some AL 5 in my 20 ga and this manual gives quite a bit of info for shotgun and pistol. Let me know what you would like to know and I can tell you what the manual calls for in AL 7. Copyright is 1967 for the manual.

Gerald;
The Ad SkeetX posted shows only AL-5 & 6 for 1953. I have the remains of the first Lyman reloders manual I ever bought in the 1950s, don't recall exact year, (Cover Missing) but was around 1956/7. It only shows AL-5 & 7. My best guess would be the AL-6 was replaced by AL-7 after only a very short time.

SkeetX;
I have handbook #38 copyrithted 1951 & it doesn't list Alcan powders at all. The one I mentioned which had AL-5 & 7 was I am almost certain either #40 or #41. This furthers the thought that AL-6 was only available for a very short time frame.
I do recall the previous thread on it & until then had never heard of it.
