Run,
Thanks for the great story... I may have to "borrow it" to pass on to my children's generation!

BTW My wife insisted on buying our African safari at an NRA dinner... Then decided she wanted to shoot a Zebra! She took the Zebra, a Blesbok and an impala with one shot each... So I gotta' be careful if I agree with your grampa too much!
Here is the pic

She also decided it was one of the best trips we have ever been on and wants to return.... this time she wants a Nyala!
Your wife is both a very attractive and indeed, special Lady- to buy a trip of a lifetime for both of you. I have modified the chauvinistic attitude of my paternal lineage- I subscribe to Sports Afield, as I would very much like to visit Africa- all that Hemingway and Ruark stories have influenced that somewhat. The editor is a Lady, Diane Rupp, and she is an avid sportswoman. None of my wives have had any interest in guns or gunning, but my oldest granddaughter, Sophia Anastasia, age 7-- loves to blow on my collection of duck and goose calls, work with me in my basement workshop, and like her Mother, whom I taught to target shoot at age 11 with the M63 .22LR I received on my 16th birthday (Thanks again, Grandfather) is already asking when I will take her to the gun range and teach her as well.
She loves venison, duck and pheasant as well as she does hamburgers with French fries. So, I am more open to the "fairer sex" taking part in the shooting sports- Now politics- that's a whole 'nother ballgame indeed. Thank you for sharing that great foto.
Old joke, similar to the one Gene Hill shared in one of his great stories-- about the bachelor and the deserted island with both Sophia Loren, and also woodcock-- A hunting pal shows his bachelor buddy a photo of a knockout drop dead gorgeous gal, wearing a smile and a gownless evening strap, next to a trophy elk, and holding a fine looking scoped BA rifle-- His buddy is speechless, so his friend finally "breaks the ice" and asks-- "Hey Bill, what about that, huh?""-- "Wow", Bill replies, what caliber do you think that rifle is anyway?-- 30-06 or maybe a .300Win Mag???"
