I used to shoot 25-20SS fixed, used a 25-20 WCF die to neck size only, no problems. They shot as well as could be expected because of the bore condition. I finally relined and chambered to WCF as the components are more available and less expensive.

Over the years I have used two rifles chambered in 25-20 single-shot. One a Ballard with A.W. Peterson barrel and a Winchester high-wall, both had mint bores.
They both shot OK but not great. I tried them both breech-seated and with fixed ammo.
I traded them both off but would consider another 25-20SS if it was built on a 1922 Springfield by Griffin & Howe.

whitey, you are indeed lucky to get the brass and especially the dies. I've never shot BS so have no input on comparison. I seem to recall comparing the case volume on the SS and WCF, best I can remember the difference was very slight, maybe a grain or two, but many moons have passed since then.

Thanks again Skratch. Yes I am Lucky in having some great friends. And this came from just a casual talk with with a previous member now deceased JD Steele(Joe Hartz) and was talking about a 1878 WR action I was going to put together and was thinking about 25-35 or something else in 25 cal. He said package in the mail fot a 25-20SS in case you want to go that way. I did go with the 25-35 WR. But now thinking it might be nice to do something in 25-20SS. Due to the gift. Whitey

Whitey This is something you and Joe shared looks like you have some kind of obligation to finish it I know I would. I put more value in things I have shared with friends I think of Joe every time I handle the Remington 600 350 mag he helped me with. Tom

Tom I agree with you and I happen to have a Super nice RB shotgun action with hammer saftey etc.All case colored etc that came from my friend SS Dave. That I am thinking I might use for the project. And as I now have a small helath problem. I got to limit my projects to what I really want to do. If I can get my camera going I will try and take some pic's of a Mauser Joe also sent me that he had built. In 223 and complete with a custom stock and DST's all done except for bluing and said merry Xmas. and it was not Xmas but close to him leaving us.????
