Nice wood is never cheap unless the seller doesn't realize what they have. Mannlicher length blanks always bring a premium too.
$400+ is probably going to be around the market price for an imported walnut blank unless you go with something very plain.
I just bought a commercial M1903 M/S project that came w/a blank inletted for the bbld action. Just the inletting done and a nice job of it. The rest still in a block form.
With all the hard work they did, they chose a dead plain blank to do it on.
Should be strong anyway!
Everything but the DST was with it,,there's always something missing isn't there.
I'm putting a single trigger in it and will maybe make a 1/2 stock out of it. A bit more English styling to the thing perhaps.
