New England Custom Guns has fitted three sets for me, one on a drilling, two on original Oberndorf Mausers. Excellent quality work and materials, but not inexpensive.

Here's a link with pricing.

I have a 6x42mm H&P scope on my drilling but it is so high that it would only be of limited use for the hunting I do.

I used to be a parts fitter and am pretty handy with tools even made some scope mounts in the past and am going to try my hand at a set of low claw mounts for a Weaver K-1.5 or Leupold 1x4x20n on it. Something I don't have to lift my head up off the stock to use.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

oskar,
If you learn to shoot it like a shotgun, it won't bother you so much, after all its stocked like a shotgun. With a rest and the set trigger, it actually works pretty well, even with the weak hand.Study how the claw mounts work, if they are mounted too low,you can't "tip"them up enough to remove them. The further forward the front ring is, the better. For my taste, the higher magnification with still a 7mm exit pupil, the better( form follows function). This is only one guy's opinion.

I call predators in close cover and can no longer see the rear sight so need a scope to thread thru the brush and to take the long ones with the rifle I will load the two shotgun barrels with Nickle plated "F" or BB's. With a low mounted scope I can shoot it shotgun style with both eyes open. For pheasants, quail and ducks I can pop off the scope and shoot it as a true shotgun. I already have two combo guns set up this way but don't have the option of easily removing the scope but still take birds on the wing with the scopes set on 1x.

I've already have done the layout and I can mount the scope 3/16 off the rib and the front ring is right at the front of the scope so tip up is no problem. Also have the layout done on the rings and just need to start carving away metal. It is nice having an already fitted set of rings to take measurements off of.

One very well regarded metalsmith who might make up a set for your weapon is Joe Smithson of Mesa, AZ. Or perhaps Griffin & Howe in NYC--
