My brother gave me a hunting flintlock black powder fowler made in Burkina Faso circa 1990. The barrel is supposed to be a steering column from a Citroen. Quite impressive with almost no tools available (maybe a fire, a knife, a hammer and a file). Everything is hand made including the pins. I also have a similar technology pistol and the black powder horn (including the locally made black powder).
The typically used projectiles are nails, rocks and pebbles.
That solves the ammunition procurement problem...
