Are you talking about the doubles with 10" tubes and the pistol stock? I saw an auction house recently that had a couple over the years, ill see if I can't find what house it was.

I think there is a special permit you have to get for it, no?

Extremely
That would be an 'unregistered firearm-sawed off shotgun'

The paperwork is relatively easy, though time consuming to get. IF!! the gun you are purchasing has been registered prior. If it is not on the registry then it is a no-go.

Randy, the last one that I have seen sold was at Amoskeag Auction in Nov. 2006 and went for $3450 including the holster. It was the B or NID model. The gun was described as being in 97% condition with 95% case color and the holster as being excellent. The holsters alone usually sell for between $250 and $600 if you can find one. As Utah said the paperwork is not all that difficult...the hardest part is getting the local law enforcement officer to sign off. This is not usually very difficult in rural areas or smaller cities...probably impossible in LA, NY Chicago or Boston. If you have an opportunity to purchase a A&B that has not been registered, don't even think about it. Usually takes about three months to get the paperwork completed and approved by the BATF.

You will mostly like have to find a Class III dealer on your end to accept the transfer, if it is coming from out of state. You will have to fill out the proper BATF paperwork. You can call them, they will send it to you. Part of that paperwork is supplying a set of finger prints and an OK from your local Chief of police. (When I spoke to BATF they had no qualms about stressing that they wanted the top law officer to sign off. Their actual practice may be different.)

I looked into this a few months ago with a Harrington chambered for 44XL. I finally decided it wasn't worth it. The hassle involved pretty much put a damper on ever selling it in a reasonable amount of time.

As Utah Shotgunner pointed out. Make sure the weapon already has the tax stamp and that the seller has it in their possession. It is my understanding that with out it, BATF considers it an illegal weapon. They will not look up the weapon for you and re-issue the tax stamp.

Randy, have you ever fired a sawed-off shotgun? I have. It was a twelve gauge with 12" barrels and the stock was cut off just about an inch behind the pistol grip. NO FUN AT ALL !! You'll never recover fast enough for the second shot (assuming you even dare to shoot it again). I thought my hands were broke! I think you'll hurt almost as badly as the guy on the other end of it. Never again. . .
