Researcher got it pinned down pretty well. Actually , the Deeley and Edge forend latch was used "briefly" on the Remington Model 1875. This was the gun that is marked both New York and London. These, seemingly special guns are said to have been made to try to get into the English market. They finished the guns as light guns, similar to English guns of the time.
