Back to the 4 holes..I vote spanner holes....perhaps reason for 4 was that with 2 holes the wrench handle couldn't be turned a full half turn before hitting some part of the fence,so you couldn't get the two pronger back in for the next turn.
But with the with 4 holer it could be comfortably done in 1/4 turns ?
Nice old Gun, either way

Jani,
just made the second gunmaker story, but shall need a lot of time for making such a book... Hope it will come true one day! Thanks for the kind invitation, I think the beer in slovenia is as well as in Germany or Austria!?

Kind Regards,
Wolfgang

Wolfgang,
You are welcome. Slovenian beer is fine, but my present favourite is Czech Bernard cerny lezak, a dark lager.

With kind regards,
Jani

Nope, we just pretend to not understand. It is more fun. smile

I find the chain damascus pattern very interesting. Chain is one of the patterns that varied widely from maker to maker. This one is unique in some ways. From the proofs, I am guessing it was not produced in Belgium. All in all, it is a very nice gun.
