I dunno no matter which numbered "Eddie Windsor" was boinking Wallis Warfield Simpson, there is no accounting for the Royal Limey taste I should wager--in ugly women- the current Prince "Chuckie" and his second bride- Patricia Bowes- Wallis Simpson, Eleanor Roosevelt, Margaret Sanger-- all got severly whacked with the big ugly stick in their teen years, and that butt-ugly business stayed with them for life- damn shame-- perhaps the Edward that was banging Wallis Simpson was a proponent of the old "Oklahoma Two-Bagger" technique..

From a simple question this thread certainly descended to boorishness.

Hey- what can be more boring than watching the spoiled rotten scions of the Windsors at play- and devil take the hindmost. Three of my pre-1913 LC Smiths have the earlier semi-pg style grip- I could care less if that design was named for the Prince of Wales, or Josie Wales-- I like the ergonomic way it fits my trigger hand and allows me to choose between two triggers if that is my wont.

Foxy, I prefer the Josie Wales. With the "Josie Wales" grip on a Sharps you can send them on a Missouri boat ride. grin

Hmmm...

I came here today with the intent of sharing my hypothesis about why would a prince have his guns made in a dramatically different gauge, but since the hypothesis has nothing to do with royal sex life, I don't think anyone will be interested...

Yup-- my favorite part of my all-time favorite Clint Eastwood movie ever- I have a VCR of the director's (Clint) cut with all the background, armorer's details and weapons, narrated by Clint-- And the words between him and Chief Ten Bears and the blood brotherhood- The UN and NATO could learn from that- but of course, they won't- If you like the Sharps rifles, and who doesn't-- see "Legends of the Fall" where ranch foreman Decker uses a Sharps in sniper mode to snuff out a crooked cop who killed his daughter--

I have always seen the King of Spain mentioned in the 14 ga. question.

As to who slept with who I will leave others to worry about that. But it was very common for wives and husbands to take up "relationships" from time to time in the pre 1900 days. Often a husband/wife knew about it and approved or at least turned a blind eye. Sometimes deals were made and fortunes made based on who was sleeping with who. Favors for favors if you will.

People have become so prudish about sex that you would think that sex was just invented sometimes. Food for though, next time you look at that 80 year old lady. Once she was 20-30 and did what all 20-30 do. Just not with you. She might have done it more often than you did when you were that age. No matter what a prude she acts like today.

Humpty, all I can refer you to is David Baker's book on the subject. http://www.amazon.com/The-Royal-Gunroom-at-Sandringham/dp/071488040X I don't have a copy but have read it and don't recall any 14 bores mentioned. I have also viewed the guns and don't recall any. Interestingly there is a pair of guns stocked in rhinoceros horn; goodness knows what they would be worth. Lagopus.....

I don't give a good rattlin' damn about the sex life (if any) of the royal families- But the 14 gauge hypohesis intrigues me- so please go further with that research. I know as much about driven bird shooting protocols in Limey_land or Europe as I do quantum physics, but I am "spitballing here" if you have the wherewithall to afford the fancy togs and the matched pair of London Best Guns, surely you can afford to bring extra shells "just in case" in the standard gauge used there- the great 12 bore--and if in the flurry and scurry of driven grouse, dropping a 14 bore shell in a 12 bore chamber by mistake, then adding ta 12 bore shell (assuming the chamber was empty) could lead to a real disaster-

If the POW had shot a 14 would others not had one also? I thought he was the leader of the pact.
