Hope you guys also enjoy what keeps me ticking: old shotguns made in the days when a skilled worker got ten bucks a week and was happy to make a product that we cannot duplicate today. Anyway, I love the oldies. Chops

I have some sheepskin pieces I can send you as a thank you for the screw you engraved for me. They are just plain sheepskin, i.e no lube, etc. Is that what you're looking for?

Great looking model 17, chopper-just got a 26" modified barrel off of Ebay, to go with the 21" original barrel I had choked by Baker, back in the day. My 17 is checkered, but, a bit more used then yours. Not sure I'd ever need a 28 full choke tube, but, I would guess that was what my gun came with when new-had a Cutts on it, when I got it.

Ted, for smacking doves and preserve chukars (while often trying to keep up with the 55 gallon drum of testosterone-Lab known as Jelly Bean)I have found 7/8 oz. field loads out of 28" tubes to be the perfect medicine. I have a 1946 Model 37 twenty with 26" modified barrel and it doesn't swing as smoothly as the longer barreled gun. I think I got a good buy on the Mod. 17 at $225.
I've been looking for one for a long time and it's not an easy gun to find. Only advantage to living where I do (Peoples' Republic of Illinois) is that the guns you find are often very little used --- mostly closet queens from the days when the Lake Zurich area was rural. Glad you liked my 17. Chopper

For you lovers of the old bottom dumpers there is a beautiful Model 17B with checkered stock and forearm at NW Pony Express in Coeur d'Alene.
