I have, in the past, owned and shot two 12 gauge Parker Trojans- back when you could pick up a clean used 12 Trojan for $300 to $350--Nice guns, heavy (std No 2 frame) and a touch clubby, like the Winchester Model 24 doubles-but stout. That was 20 some years ago- now the Parker "mystique" is all over the pricing map-- saw a slightly better 12 Trojan at Cabelas last Friday for $925- and ast nearby Gander Mountain they had a late 1890 12 Parker Vulcan- 28" Vulcan barrels, DT, Ext and the early 18 pc. action w/o the tool steel bolt plate- no blue or case, stock pinned- and they were asking $3795-- I kid you not--I could not believe it-- What do you want your first double gun for- upland birds, waterfowling, some clays? The old adage- buy the gun that fits you and your wallet- not the name- I like the LeFever Nitro Specials--and also the field grade Ithaca NID series- lighter, well built and designed and so far, not yet overpriced in the "collector's market"-- Good luck with your search--
