How many here have either? Is it worth the investment?

Like most things in life, the answer to your question is "it depends." It depends on how much buying and selling you are doing, what type of firearms you are buying and selling, how much government involvement you mind, etc. I'll limit my comments to the C&R license and add that it sure is nice to have an auction purchase delivered right to your home than to have to involve a thrid-party. If you buy VINTAGE guns more than occassionally, I would say yes it is worth it. You can check out the details of what is involved and what a C&R allows and does not at http://www.cruffler.com/ Good luck, Ken

As Ken says, it depends on how many, what and how you buy(Pa I suspect has no special restrictions like Klaif or NJ which would make it worthless).I will say that once you have one you seem to buy more. A far as investment,it does not cost much at all and requires some minor bookkeeping that you should be doing anyway if you collect. I have a class 1 FFL. I am glad I do. Makes life simpler, mostly, but can also complicate things. For example, you can go to an out-of-state gunshow and sell a gun. I cannot.

Steve - are you saying that I (as a non-FFL holder), CAN sell a gun to a resident of another state who is also a non-FFL holder?
What is your reference for this?

Steve. what I see around here at the gun shows is a arrangment is made with another dealer at the show of the state the show is in to do the transfer should a buyer be interested.Of course you could sell to someone with 03 C&R too correct(for eligible guns of course)? Dave

I have considered getting a C&R FFL but have one question that I can't find an answer for: Do you have to log in all the guns you owned before you obtained the C&R? If so, how? I have none of the required info on most of the guns I currently own. If I don't log them, how would the BATF know what I owned prior to obtaining the C&R and what I bought since? Any clue???

Dave Yes, you see it. It is illegal, if done by a dealer. Individual non-licensed non-residents may sell firearms to residents in person at a gunshow through a dealer (only). ATF pub. 5300.23A

Fergus, you do not have to log in guns owned prior to obtaining a C & R license, only those obtained afterward.
