The datecode may be on the side and under the wood. I wonder if that lone S on the lower tube had a l that accompanied it or if it is for a S mechanic. Walter Steiner ran a Rohr Eisenkonstruktionen is Suhl and is almost always listed with the weapons makers. I don't think I've seen a WS so maybe he used a single S. His presence in Suhl and tube making without any real association/relationship has plagued me for a time.
