I help out a local dealer and long time friend at his shop. He charges $50 for transfers which is about double the going rate. There are more headaches with transfers than anything else a dealer does. As stated before, you cannot return to a non-FFL. We had an Alaskan guy send us some guns, became incommunicato, and the pick-up person showed up 8 MONTHS later. Other times the pick-up person then was denied on his 4473. We are responsible for the firearms in the mean time. The small amount in these deals is nowhere near the frequent hassles but is done simply to be of service. Don't feel too bad about the dealer.
