I apologize Steve, I wasn't very clear, as I can often not be. I've been shooting round balls from rifles and smoothbores for.....near 40 years, and have taken more than a few deer with them. I know their effect and their accuracy capability first hand. From my 20 bore flint fowler a 75 yard kill shot is expected. Up to 50 yards it is quite accurate, 2 inches should be doable, if not, something is amiss. 'Course, for lots of folks that is short range. It's about normal here in the Ozarks. I meant any insights about loading them in a hull. That I have never done. I suppose one would dump an appropriate charge of black or smokeless and build up a wad column so the ball came to the correct height for a crimp of whatever variety works. It seems I read in one article by Seyfried that he even patched the ball in the hull.
