I am going to install a set of swivels for a sling on my field trial and traveling gun. A beat up Parker VH. Do I need to watch for anything?

If you're committed, I'd solder on base to bridge both tubes rather than hang it on the little bottom rib.

This is better:  The leather covered spring steel "hoop" slides onto the barrels, the T shaped fitting goes into the buttstock in the oval shaped piece of steel seen next to it. The oval shaped piece is the only thing that has to be fitted to the stock, no solder or heat on the metal. When it is removed, one can't tell the gun has a sling installed, no clanking swivels installed. Geoffroy Gournet can set you up. Best, Ted

Those leather covered spring loaded hoops that go on the barrel is the last thing I'd ever use.

The "hoops" are NOT "spring loaded"-they are exactly like a leather covered handguard. They are made of a spring steel and leather covered. Because double guns barrels are tapered, the hoop fits loosely near the chokes and gets tighter as you get further down. I'd be willing to bet you've never even seen one, if you had, you wouldn't be so quick to make an ass out of yourself with inaccurate comments. What a moron. Ted

Front swivles that are soft soldered to the bottom rib have been used without significant problems, for many years. The rear swivel should just be screwed into the stock. Just be sure to block and wire the ribs in the area of the swivel,to avoid loosening them.IMHO a sling on a shotgun is necessary.
