The search function of this site really leaves allot to be desired. Anyways, if anyone has any data for a low pressure 20 gauge load, that they would be willing to share. I'd appreciate it. Otherwise I was thinking of taking the lowest load I can find, and roll crimp it. Which should reduce the PSI by about another 1000 PSI.

If you check Hodgdon Powder site you will find a few low pressure loads in the 7,500psi which is fairly low for a small bore. Just do a google search, enter site and go to 20 AA hulls.
Lead Shot 20 0.875 7/8 oz. 800-X Rem. 209P Rem. RXP 20 16.5 7,500 PSI 1200
Make sure that you check the site to find this load and make no substitutions. You want a bang not a boom.

KY Jon, Thanks. I checked there site, but was looking under Remington STS hulls. I will get some AA's, because that looks like a nice load.

Hi Dave, Please get your load data from established and tested sources such as the free booklets offerred by the powder makers. Don't trust a possible typo or accept load data from a friend. Be safe. Where did you get the information that roll crimping will reduce the pressure by 1000 psi? Be safe, JL

Jim, I belong to the 16 gauge reloading group. In looking at there data, where two identical loads are tested. Except one is roll crimped and the other has a 6 point crimp. The roll crimped load is usually about 1000 PSI less. Don't take this as the last word, just something I noticed. All my loads are tested by Tom, unless data comes from a sound, known source.

Jim, the load sited was copied not typed directly from the powder site. Also included is a note to go to the site and look at the load to confirm. If someone gives you information and tells you where it comes from I suspect that you should be able to verify the source and the information. If not, maybe they should not be loading in the first place. The above load is not a pet load but a published load that is easily checked.

To Ky Jon, I'm not banging on your reply to Dave and I did see your recommendation to confirm it(I 100% agree with that). To Dave, I'm not arguing that the statement about roll crimping is not correct, I had just never seen that statement before and wondered where it came from. Thanks to both of you, JL

I have found that loads in the Federal 20 ga. hull produce lower pressures than those in the Rem and WAAHS hulls. Plus the Federal crimps so well, its a same to use anything else. Russ

One point in favor of Federal loads is that they are easy to reconise. If you restrict all Federal loads to low pressure loads this will give you a visual check that the load you are shooting is what you expect it to be. When loaded one AA looks like another so if you load low and high pressure loads in the same hull you run the risk of picking up the wrong load and shooting high pressure for low pressure.
Years ago, back when lead was legal I use to load Remington RXP for one duck load, Federal Chgampion for another load and size shot and AA for a third duck load. It was easy to figure out if I had 4's, 5's, or 6's by the color of the hull. If ducks started to come into the decoys real close or started passing by at a decent long range I just changed shells by color. Still missed but atleast I had the right shells in the gun.
