Trey,
I have a Remington factory repair manual from the 1940's that has a 20 page section on the M-11. It's definitely the carrier latch and i have much clearer diagrams if you need them.
BTW, I was in your boat, 4 years ago I completely tore down a M-14 a, used it to test out my new ultra sonic cleaner. Had a lot of clean parts that I oiled and put in a box figuring I would get to it in a week.
4 years later I hadn't done a thing. I forgot how to put it back together. I called a couple of smiths and they said, "Oh yeah, a gun in a box! We can reassemble that." But I bit the bullet, opened the box and, with the help of the guys at the Rem Society, got it back together and it shoots very accurately.
So don't get daunted, ask for help, ignore the assholes, and do the work. They only go together one way. And there should be no parts left over...
