I couldn't agree more Teddy bOy...you are a mOron. The French has always complicated things and came up with an inferior way of doing everything.

Of course, such as the centerfire shotgun shell, the break open action, the O/U action pivoted on trunnions, the smokeless rifle cartridge and on and on... WC-

Mike; It is an intelligent decision: After using a sling when carrying other stuff into a blind or just walking out for some distance, one wonders why slings aren't on all hunting shotguns. I like Ted's idea. Sam Ogle, Lincoln, NE

Without even attempting to take sides on the pros & cons of a sling on a shotgun, I do kinda wonder why if this devise is made of "Spring Steel" & then pushed down on the tapered barrels until it is a tight fit one would come up with the idea it is not "Spring Loaded". Whether I agree with Joe on its use or not, he does seem to understand its mechanics.

Ted,
I understand how the t-post works in the butt stock, but how does the sling attach to the leather covered piece that slides on over the barrels ? I can't see any means of attachment for it.
I use a sling that has a similar system for sliding a leather loop over the barrels that tightens as it is slid down toward the f/end, and another leather sliding loop the tightens down over the wrist, but don't like shooting with it in place, as the loop completely encircles the barrels, over the top rib. I only use it for turkey and duck hunting, where I'm toting a bunch of stuff and need both hands free. I just pull it off when I get where I'm going.

Just look at sliding lock design found on Remington 32. The system is very strong and makes for elegant low framed O/U design. It was used by Valmet and is still used by Krieghoff today.

Mike several times I've posted pics and gave out contact info for the fellow I commissioned to make my shotgun slings....
I guess you were busy scratching your hemorrhoids.

Whether I agree with Joe on its use or not, he does seem to understand its mechanics. No, he doesn't. The spring steel doesn't fit tight to the barrels-the leather does. It is more supple and compressable than the steel could be. The steel itself is heavier gauge than you might imagine, and is spring steel so it holds it's shape over time. If it weren't wrapped in a good grade of leather, it would rattle on down to the fore end wood, and be stopped by it. The way I look at a topic with dumbass jOe is, if he is here, making an ass out of himself, at least he isn't pestering someone like Rookhawk, and trying to get his guns for free, or showing off all the knowledge he doesn't have about screw grip guns. He is a lot like a housecat that craps in the cellar when the pastor is visiting on Sunday, and you are just happy he didn't crap in the parlor, on the pastor's shoes. Best, Ted
