Your opinion runs smack into the research by the late Gordon Gullion when it comes to grouse hunting. Breed of dog didn't matter, but dogless hunting of any sort was farther down the success chart. My own experience agrees with this study.
They were dogless. BIrdless, too. Late season pheasant hunting, without a dog, is mostly hiking.
Best, Ted I never said you couldn't be successful without a dog. That would be your own demons speaking to you, and you can leave my voice out of those that reside in your head. Thank You Very Much.
Now you sound just like a Democrat and deny what you said. I think you may have comprehension problems...?........If you can't understand the demons in your head, don't post so much continual b.s..........get a grip, go back to South America on vacation and get some warm air. Your quotes: A. "Your opinion runs smack into the research by the late Gordon Gullion when it comes to grouse hunting"... assuming like you do -- (and you know what that means) -- that we all are hard core grouse hunters and have the same level of interest in that bird that you seem to. Maybe it's because of your flatland only experience....?... B. "My own experience agrees with this study"...... does this mean something different than what it says...?...C. "Late season pheasant hunting, without a dog, is most likely hiking"........... does this mean something different than what it says.....?....You really need to work on your demons or proof read better OR ask Homeless jOe for help in structuring sentences....... As far as hunting in Idaho, you should give it a decade or two...good idea....you would stick out like a sore thumb. Good Luck,
Doug

Except, to you. "Late season pheasant hunting, without a dog, is, mostly hiking" (when you quote me, at least get the sentence correct, will you?) Is far from an absolute-except, again, in your corner of the world. What is the deal with the absolutes and you? Can you read? Or, comprehend? Go back to whatever libation you call your own, and have the vet give you a shot for rabies. You seem nuts. Ted

Man, PA24--makes me wish I lived out west and had a bush plane...Steve You will do fine as long as your plane doesn't have Minnesota license plates.
Practice safe eating. Always use a condiment.

You don't have the brains God gave a goose..... Homeless jOe is right, you are an absolute MORON ....... You tell us to get rid of our dogs, and we will see more game. I posted info from a well recognized researcher (not recognized by you, however) stating that this might not be the case. You went off on a rant telling us you didn't care about said researcher, and didn't need dogs for your type of hunting, a form of hunting practiced by almost nobody (you said you had never seen anybody doing it, save, well, you) and that the tame bears, elk, mountain lions, and whatever, would hang around camp. However, we should get rid of our dogs. That, is what you said. The guys hunting state land, WMAs some private land that might be open to others, or, whatever. You clearly realize that far more people hunt just like me, rather than hunting tame animals in the middle of nowhere, with the aid of a plane, and will obviously do better with a dog along than they would otherwise. But, you advise to get rid of the dogs. That they will see more game. Those, were your words. You are wrong, except, perhaps, in a very narrow window of hunting of a type practiced by you. And, you know it. Further, a huge portion of the hunters I know would simply not go hunting, if it weren't for the company of their dogs. Even in some sort of Shangri-la area accessible only by them. Unrelated, but, telling, none-the-less, it is great to see you allied with the absolute proven fool of the double gun BBS. A word of advise, however. If he tells you that you can tell if your gun is a screw grip simply by looking at the rib extension, you may want to seek a second opinion. Oh, and if you invite him hunting with you, you may want to invest in the twin turbo option for the engine of the bush plane-he will present the airframe with quite a load. He will have but one gun along, however, his trusty Super Black Eagle. DO ENJOY. Best, Ted

Why do you make so many words about? In Germany hunting with dogs is asked by law and an old hunters wisdom says: "Jagen ohne Hund ist Schund" (free translated: "hunting without dog is shlock") I think, enough words....
Kind Regards, Gunwof

Such a long, long time to be gone, and a short time to be there.
