Why do you make so many words about? In Germany hunting with dogs is asked by law and an old hunters wisdom says: "Jagen ohne Hund ist Schund" (free translated: "hunting without dog is shlock") I think, enough words....
Kind Regards, Gunwof I would have to agree. Thank you. Best, Ted

You tell us to get rid of our dogs, and we will see more game. I posted info from a well recognized researcher (not recognized by you, however) stating that this might not be the case. You went off on a rant telling us you didn't care about said researcher, and didn't need dogs for your type of hunting, a form of hunting practiced by almost nobody (you said you had never seen anybody doing it, save, well, you) and that the tame bears, elk, mountain lions, and whatever, would hang around camp. However, we should get rid of our dogs. That, is what you said. The guys hunting state land, WMAs some private land that might be open to others, or, whatever. You clearly realize that far more people hunt just like me, rather than hunting tame animals in the middle of nowhere, with the aid of a plane, and will obviously do better with a dog along than they would otherwise. But, you advise to get rid of the dogs. That they will see more game. Those, were your words. You are wrong, except, perhaps, in a very narrow window of hunting of a type practiced by you. And, you know it. Further, a huge portion of the hunters I know would simply not go hunting, if it weren't for the company of their dogs. Even in some sort of Shangri-la area accessible only by them. Unrelated, but, telling, none-the-less, it is great to see you allied with the absolute proven fool of the double gun BBS. A word of advise, however. If he tells you that you can tell if your gun is a screw grip simply by looking at the rib extension, you may want to seek a second opinion. Oh, and if you invite him hunting with you, you may want to invest in the twin turbo option for the engine of the bush plane-he will present the airframe with quite a load. He will have but one gun along, however, his trusty Super Black Eagle. DO ENJOY.
Best, Ted
You must be related to Hubert Humphrey as your quotes are out of context and your lack of comprehension and understanding are very poor considering you think of yourself as a librarian. You need bigger fatter glasses and a course on reading and understanding. Get rid of the dogs,..........hunt in peace and quiet and offload the whistles and bags, water, food, saliva wipes and other doggie paraphenelia then you won't need a sling or swivels ......and the associated ugliness it adds......... you will also see a lot more game of all types..... .......just an opinion...... Are you so lacking, dense and ignorant that you do not understand what "MORE GAME OF ALL TYPES MEANS"......"GET RID OF THE DOGS AND HUNT IN PEACE AND QUIET WITHOUT SLINGS, SWIVELS AND PARAPHENELIA"....CAN YOU GRASP AN UNDERSTANDING OF THESE COMPLEX WORDS, HOWEVER SPACED.......?......MAYBE THE SPACING THREW YOU OFF.......?......MAYBE PARAPHENELIA IS TOO BIG OF A WORD FOR YOU.....?..... DO YOU TAKE YOUR DOG WITH YOU IN A TREE STAND FOR GAME SPOTTING....? DO YOU TAKE YOUR DOG WITH YOU ARCHERY HUNTING FOR PEACE AND QUIET....? Are you well read enough to understand peace and quiet.....? and NEVER SEE ANOTHER PERSON, OR DOG OR VEHICLE, while having elk, deer, moose, bear, mountain lion and everything else walk through the camp. Where do you see "hang around" in this post......?Again, just more Minnesoooooota Democrat twisted words from the mouth of a Fool......a Very Dense Fool who can't read, let alone understand English as written. "about - HomelessjOe"
I told him you are fat. And, stupid. Do you enjoy your condescending statements about HomelessjOe.....? ....Does this build your station in life or on this board..... you must have a very serious case of SMALL MAN SYNDROME to go along with your small lacking mentality and your big glasses.......... Why don't you put your picture up for us to critique, WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF SPARKY............??There are many intelligent, experienced hunters on this board and here are their intelligent EXPERIENCED COMMENTS, BEFORE YOU STUCK YOUR MINDLESS OPINION INTO PRINT, several pages before your ONE SIZE FITS ALL BRAIN WAVES OVER TOOK YOU....:
You are right. We got about the same amount of birds before we had bird dogs as we did after.
Best,
Mike
Lots of truth in that statement. My only caveat to it would be for retrievers. I love retrievers, and know that they find many birds, I otherwise would not, especially ducks.
But, they ARE a lot of trouble.

You really need to learn how to read Schefelbein, then participate. Have a nice life,

ed, I can see that's an Eastern thing. In most Western states it is very illegal to run big game with dogs, the exception being lions and racoons (probably feral hogs in Texas as well, i.e. pests). I remember you "cringing" and "commenting" about the body count piles of pigeons on African bird hunts and also the Argentine Dove shoots........so with your hunting/killing sensitivity do you think chasing big game with dogs is considered "FAIR CHASE".....?? Have you read up on and do you understand "Fair Chase" and the principles it encompasses.......?........ Best,
Doug

Stan- yes, that is very much like the non marring sling I made. Good pic, giving my ideas for the next attempt.
Re dogs- some of us forego the dog because dogless hunting is more challenging, even if it is less productive. On the other hand, it can be more productive if you cultivate going dogless.
Also, if you do not have "it" with dogs, it is best to leave them alone.

uh pa...these little troll like trackin dogs aint bein used to run big game...they are bein used to track and find dead or mostly dead deer that otherwise would go to waste, unless feedin coyotes and crows aint what you consider wasteful. using these little doggies to retrieve game is a fine thing, in my opinion. sorry you do not see the value in it.
keep it simple and keep it safe...

Uh, if deer are almost dead or already dead, it should be left to nature and nothing human should be eating it anyway, predators need to eat too you know .........part of hunting is tracking animals you shoot, by yourself, with efficiency, if you can't do that, don't shoot........are any of these animals road kills.....?.......Sorry you see that practice as worthwhile and beneficial.......
Best,
Doug

doug: you make good points, cept a deer bled out and not dead for too long still makes good venison. and, then there is the joy of the little doggie when he finds what he is trailing, plus there is the joy of the hunter in the retrieval of his kill and the sure knowledge that the animal is not suffering as a result of his actions...hopefully, the predators will be happy as they still get the blood and guts.
keep it simple and keep it safe...

To hell with them fellers (in this case critters) buzzards got to eat, same as worms.----Josey Wales.
Practice safe eating. Always use a condiment.
