Was out shooting today and decided to use one of my better Piepers. It's a model 485E boxlock, circa 1910 or thereabouts, with 29.5" chopper lump barrels. Had a nice afternoon, dog was behaving for once and as I arrived back at the truck after the last bird, I noticed something was missing from my stock!

I was shooting Gamebore Pure Gold 2.5 inch 1 ounce loads of number six shot. Not the lowest pressure possible (no RST available here) but not bad. Of course, absolutely impossible to find the missing piece in the field.

After talking with CJO I am determined to have most of my stocks glassed. I had this stock off about 6 years ago for a complete, professional refinish and re-checker. Had the stock been glassed at that point I doubt this would have happened.
