(thank you to others as well) Yes, the Ferlach barrels are "sleeved" into the original block. You can barely see a thin line around the face of both chambers, but it is there. You can also see a thin line at the outside just ahead of the chambers, like mon-o-block construction. Is there any source (book) that shows the different "grades" of Greener shotguns? Do you think an email to the factory would gain any information? How to Hunt Wisconsin Whitetail Deer with a Cannon

Graham Greener was so in kind in providing details on my 16ga FH50 I felt obligated to purchse his book, which was quite informative and I believe woth the money. The serpentine fences and scalloped back should make it a G-45 grade,(price was 45 Guineas)a mid grade gun.I would say the gun was made in the early 1890's. The forearm looks right,stock not so much. If the action ever needs work,talk with Greener's first!

Greener and "JOSEF JUST" (Ferlach Austria) to see if they have any information about this shotgun. I'll let you know if they respond. I added a picture in my second post showing the JOSEF JUST marking on the rib. If anyone has any pictures of the book reference, please post them. I'm eager to learn what a "G" gun is all about. I received the following reply from Graham Greener early this morning. He writes this about my shotgun: Quote: " W W Greener gun no. 39135 was started on 20th April 1891 and finished on 9th October the same year. It is a double barrel sporting shotgun a G2 model, 12 bore with 30 inch barrels. It has a Facile Princeps action with self-acting ejectors invented in 1881. It was shipped to our establishment in New York so we do not have the details of the first owner. Stock dimensions when made were 2-3/4 by 1-5/8 by 14-1/4 inches, full pistol hand. The gun cost 35 guineas when sold (�36.75 in today�s money)." .....
