Thanks, yes am familar with that type of back action sidelock, & thought that must be what it was. Can't recall actually noticing one before that was engraved so as to give the appearance of a bar action plate. The hammerless Sauer I spoke of actually has the part on the plate where the mainspring would attach on a bar action, but is blank, no screw, hole or anything, but of course the frame bar had to be milled to accept it.

The stockmaker recieved my package. He told me I was right, nothing was going to damage that stock in my packaging. He said the break is clean and will repair nicely. Should be about invisible in the checkering.
