In reference to a Husqvarna 12Gauge underlever with 2.5" chambers in good shape, what do you think is a safe load in a gun in great condition. It is real steel, not damascus. The barrels are shortened to about 24".The metal is not very thick at the muzzle but the slug should be able to pass through no problems. I was under the impression they were proofed at 200+ grains and 4 ounces. I was going to use a 600 grain(1.5oz)lead load with 120 grains of powder for deer and hog. Do you think this is a good load?

I also have a 16 gauge 2.5" real steel double underlever i thought of near the same load for hogs.110 grains of powder and a suitable slug will fit in the 2.5" hull, its just over most recommendations, but still way below the proofs.
