A few decades ago a guy maned Bill Wise suffered a catastrophic accident. Solely by virtue of his association with the National guard, the organization Paralyzed Veterans of America stepped up to assist him in a massively needed way in a desperate time for him. Bill was very happy to discover that I'd been a PVA supporter for some considerable time.

Bill was not the first of friends that I've seen helped or even rescued by the PVA. There are thousands of service men and women out there that have had the PVA step up to help them too.

Here is a link to their web site. Check out what they do. Check out how they DON'T suck up donated funds with admin costs. For the cost of a couple good cigars, couple boxes of shells, you can give the PVA a bit to help them reach others.

I think Bill would appreciate it too. He was pretty happy they had been there for him. I was happy they'd been there for him as well.

PVA is about one of the best places Americans should donate in my opinion.

There are a few recent posts and some old pictures on the Bill Wise thread on the "Silent Double" subforum on this site. I also posted a reference to Bill's website.

It wouldn't offend any of us if we did what "stallones" did today, which was to post a tribute on the "Silent Doubles" subforum that recognized Bill Wise. How about someone posting a mention of Russ Ruppel, Oscar Gaddy, John Mann, or some of our other wonderful posters who are now not with us?

Good idea there, Mr. M-- suggest we get in touch with Brad Bachelder in GR- when I last visited him in his new location on Plymouth, he gave me a "cook's tour" of the whole shop- and in his special room where he does the color case-hardening, he showed me many fotos and articles, both about the late Dr. Gaddy, and also some written by him. A metallurgist would have a field day with that data for case hardening basic AISI 1018 forging grade mild steel-

Thanks for the heads-up, Wonko. Bill Wise is beyond words. I donated. Americans always welcomed ours in their formations.
