Sh*t! That's close to my dream gun! And sling swivels, too! I'll bet it's proofed for 70-mm (2.75") shells?

Sorry it is proofed for 65's and I have no problems with ammo as B&P delivers High Pheasants right to the door and I have a Mec 600 set up for 2.5" and I roll crimp all my ITX loads and fold crimp my lead loads to tell them apart even in the dark.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Oskar,
What leads you to believe a 1955 production date on this gun? I ask, because by 1950 most Darne production was 70mm chamber-the R10 I own was built in 1946 and was a 70mm gun. It is entirely possible the gun you own was built and proofed at 65mm in 1955, I'm just curious as to how you established the date.

Best,
Ted

Do you mind if I ask the first three characters of that serial number? Thanks in advance,

I looked at the B&P website and didn't see the High Pheasant load among their offerings. Are they still available?

How hard is it to switch between shell lengths in the same gauge. I have two old 12s, one French chambered 2.5" the other Belgian, post 1924 with original proofed 3" chambers. I have no experience reloading, but it seems like something to consider once bitten by the vintage double gun virus.

On the original topic, I finally called John Allen at Game Fair, and he told me of a master gunsmith with lots of experience with fine British and European doubles 2 hours west of Nashville, Frank Elliot at WHMCGUNS (McClanahan's Gun Shop) in Humboldt, TN. I called Mr. Elliot and he was conversant about the Darne. I'll try to get over there this weekend. Glad to find an option to shipping it across the country.

Try this for High Pheasant, if you call ask for Kari.

They have worked so well for me that I just use the 2.5" in all my guns. Even reloads I just cut the cases to 2.5" and I never have to worry about the wrong shell length.

They are suppose to be in stock the middle of this month and the sight says coming soon. I need to place an order as they are getting 1 oz. 5's.

Got the PM Oskar, suspect you are spot-on as to age of your gun. It is a very nice looking example, by the way.
Use it in good health.

Best,
Ted
