But the base area of a 20 ga shell is about 3X the area of the base of a 30-30, so the face thrust(force=pressure x area) will be similar that of a 20 ga. Might just go and ask Bill G. at Numrich about barrels--it's about 5 miles from my house. But I might just go and rifle a set of 20 ga barrels, and make a slug gun. Need a winter project! PS: Used Ellis's book when I did the 45-100--you should have seen the boys at the gun club run for cover, when I showed up with the barrels held together at the muzzle with hose clamps, and shims for regulating shots!
