For those that have shot side by sides with ventilated ribs - what do you think of them? I looked at a 16 gauge Model 21 today that I really liked in all respects except for the vent rib. It's a CSMC made gun in unused condition for a decent price (in my opinion). All of my side by sides (including an older Model 21 12 gauge) have flat (file) ribs. I don't know that I dislike the vent rib - but it's not something I'm used to and don't really love the looks of it. This gun would be for upland hunting mostly - maybe the occasional clay target.
Probably a stupid question - but I'm assuming the ribs on a barrel can't be changed without major effort correct? Obviously it would be nice to shoot the gun for a little while before I made a decision but that's not possible in this case.
