I think it all depends on the gun whether to fully restore, partially restore, or leave it alone. After discussing my 1900 Remington with PA24 Doug, we decided the best route would be to repair the original serial numbered stock leaving the receiver and damascus barrels as is. The stock was not only cracked in many places, the butt plate and heel toe were massively chipped off. The worst damage was where Waldo and his twin brother Wilbur drilled a hole in the side for a farmer bolt to hold it together. PA24 repaired everything to perfection including salvaging the original widow's peak butt plate. No longer will I have to dig wood splinters out of my hand when I shoot it. Thanks PA24 Doug. smile
