Doug, that's quite a repair job. Finished product looks great. I'm curious though. That stock looked pretty beat up. Took a lot of work to make it solid and looking good again. Why not start with a fresh piece of wood....a semi inletted stock?

James,
J.R.B. had loads of sentimental memories with that stock as the gun had been in the family for many, many years. J.R.B. hunted with this gun as a very young boy and still hunts with it today.
So, to answer your question.....he asked me if I could save it.....I told him I'd look at it and give him my honest opinion....lot's of work, but worth saving.....it was not oil soaked real bad as some are, so the wood was stout and not punky or spongy......
Best,
Doug

Since it's my stock I'll help Doug answer that Canvasback. The stock is not only serial numbered but I have a loyal love for that particular gun. It was the first real gun I ever owned, given to me by my favorite Uncle. 45 years of memories run deep. Doug is the only one who really understands my feelings for it. Thank you again Doug. Catch ya tomorrow at 0500 for our morning cup of internet coffee.

JRB, Now that's a great reason for trying to save it. And it looks like Doug did a hell of a job. Makes sense now. I hope you continue to enjoy it. Both at home and afield.

JRB, I always love the pics you guys put up in a large part because the land reminds me of southern Manitoba where I grew up hunting. We just don't have the pheasant you guys have. Just a bit too cold for a breeding population. A few show up now and again, but it's just chance and it's rare.

It's your gun. Do WTF you want with it. Waiting for some mythical "collector" is total BS. How many MILLION 37's are there out there? Or most anything else for that matter. I mean there are pennies worth more than 99% of the guns.
If the gun is SFW then you should give it to a museum.

Hi all, I know the gun that Doug restored for J.R.B. seen it a couple of times while hunting with him. It showed it's age and sure looked like it was used (an understatement!) But Doug sure did a wonderful job on it. Top shelf! He sure has a talent that I wish I had. Great going Doug! I know that Joel will be happy as a clam when he see's it in person. I'm looking forward to seeing it myself. That gun does mean a lot to Joel, I think you made his Christmas!!!
Great job Doug!
Best!
Greg

If you want to see a clam smile you should be in the house on Thursday when I open the box.
