Good Christmas trip to the old country. Fished for steelhead on Elk Creek (got to use a nice Billy Pate Salmon direct-drive), shot deer off of a jet boat w/a muzzle-loader, chased ruffed grouse with a boyhood friend, and, yes....bought a Model 31. I sort-of had to, because I gave away the little Model 12 20 I brought to my buddy. Got to have something to shoot in the time remaining here. My first Model 31, and even uncleaned from the bargain bin at the gun store, it's amazingly slick to pump. Did they really use ball bearings?

Shooting deer off a jet boat w/a muzzle-loader rivals Joe Wood shooting dove off a wire at 50+ mph from a moving vehicle!!

I knew we had some fine shot shots here, but I didn't know they were THAT good.

Send me some spent hulls & I'll put 'em under my pillow & hope for the tooth fairy & some osmotics:-)

HAPPY NEW YEAR! All of you.

In my opinion the Remington 31 is the best Pump ever.

Mine's a tale that can't be told, my freedom I hold dear.

Having had a lifelong love affair with Winchester model 12's I think it is a sleeker looking gun. The model 31 is slicker to operate......waaay slicker. Congratulations on acquiring a good gun. If Joe Wood ever leaves the door to his Troll House unlocked I will swipe his Model 31 Trap and leave town immediately.

In fact, I have no knowledge of Joe ever having shot at a bird from a moving vechicle, but it wouldn't surprise me if he couldn't doit & hit the bird. The lessons he has been getting are obviously working. Recently, he was quick to point out that the bead on one of my own 31 20's was off-center & then preceded to mostly not miss w/a hammer gun for the afternoon while all I could think about was that bead, which had never bothered me before at all. I think he politely jinxed me, but we did have fun;-)

31's, like model 12's just get smoother with use. Congrats, Lloyd, on scoring one, you'll quite enjoy it I suspect.

Well, the engine was shut down and we were drifting, and the person running the .50 was/ is a State Trooper. Good to know Pennsylvania's finest can shoot. The 31 was one of those deals you can't walk away from. It's an early gun with the checkered forend and surprisingly good wood. It was also dirt cheap. I'd seen it last summer and was tempted then. This trip got some schedule revisions and I gave away the gun I'd took a bit sooner than planned. Got to shoot something on those Pennsy ruffies.

Flight delayed here. Hard to even compare this 31 to the borrowed 870 I'd been forced to use. Totally different genetics. My luggage had been too heavy to take my little 16 sxs (waders and gear for fishing complicate this trip). Just how these guns are so slick compared to other pump designs escapes me, but it seems to be the case.

The Model 31 is a great pump. I luv um!! One could probably hunt one forever. A lot of use in clay target games will most likely result in breaking the tip off the action bar. Fortunately Gun Parts Corp has new ones in 12-gauge. Very likely the reason Remington introduced the twin action bars in the Model 870.
